Who is *Insert Your Name*?

This is a selection of Bible verses, with pronouns adjusted and your name inserted in the relevant places. It is intended to convey clearly some of what Scripture teaches about who you are; truths about your past, future and present state in Christ.  Some of the verses are the observations of writers of the various books, inspired by God’s Spirit; some are directly the words of Jesus, intended not just for His first disciples, but also for His disciples today. God treats us as individuals, He knows everything about us, yet He loves us and has made it possible for us to come into relationship with Him. We seem to easily forget the amazing truths about our identity in Jesus, so it’s important to grasp hold and root our lives in them.

Suggestions on how to use this sheet - when you are feeling down, confused or insecure, read through some of these verses, and let God refresh you and encourage you with His Word. Thank Him for all these wonderful truths, and ask Him to manifest their fruit in your life. You might like to pray some of the verses out loud, thanking God and letting His word settle deep within your being for example "Father God, thank you that in Jesus and through faith in Him I may approach you with freedom and confidence”. Perhaps you could select a few verses of particular relevance to you, and meditate on them for a few minutes each day - write them out colourfully and stick them up in the loo or beside you bed.


Where you’ve come from
From within, out of people’s hearts come evil thoughts, sexual immorality, theft, murder, adultery, greed, malice, deceit, lewdness, envy, slander, arrogance and folly. All these evils come from inside and make a man unclean. (Mark.7.21-3)
Your iniquities have separated you from your God; your sins have hidden His face from you so that He will not hear. For your hands are stained with blood, your fingers with guilt. Your lips have spoken lies, and your tongue mutters wicked things. ( Isaiah.59.2-3)
Everyone who sins is a slave to sin. (John.8.34)              
*Insert Your Name*, you were alienated from God and were an enemy in your mind because of your evil behaviour. (Col.1.21)
You were separate from Christ, *Insert Your Name*, excluded from citizenship in Israel and a foreigner to the covenants of the promise, without hope and without God in the world. (Eph.2.12)

Why you’ve changed
God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have everlasting life. (John.3.16)
The son of man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life as a ransom for many. (Mark.10.45)
The son of man came to seek and save what was lost. (Luke.19.10)
Christ died for sins, once for all, the righteous for the unrighteous, to bring you to God. (1.Pet.3.18)
The curtain of the temple was torn in two from the top to the bottom. (Matt.27.51)
If you confess with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved. As the Scripture says, “Anyone who trusts in Him will never be put to shame.” (Rom.10.9-11)
He Himself bore your sins in His body on the tree, *Insert Your Name*, so that you might die to sins and live for righteousness, by His wounds you have been healed. (1.Pet.2.24)
Because of His great love for you *Insert Your Name*, God, who is rich in mercy, made you alive in Christ even when you were dead in your transgressions  - it is by grace that you have been saved. And God raised you up with Christ and seated you with Him in the heavenly realms in Christ Jesus… It is by grace that you have been saved, through faith - and this is not from yourself, it is the gift of God - not by works, so that you can’t boast. (Eph.2.4-8)

Where you’re at now
My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me. I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; no-one can snatch them out of my hand. (John.10.27-8)
If *Insert Your Name* is in Christ, she is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come! (2.Cor.5.17)
Now He has reconciled *Insert Your Name* by Christ’s physical body through death to present you holy in His sight, without blemish and free from accusation. (Col.1.22)
How great is the love the Father has lavished on *Insert Your Name*, that she should be called a child of God. And that is what you are! ( 1.John.3.1)
If *Insert Your Name* acknowledges that Jesus is the Son of God, God lives in her and she in God. (1.John.4.15)
For in Christ is all the fullness of the Deity lives in bodily form, and *Insert Your Name* has been given fullness in Christ, who is the Head over every power and authority. (Col.2.9-10)
There is now no condemnation for *Insert Your Name* who is in Christ Jesus. (Rom.8.1)
Neither death nor life, angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate *Insert Your Name* from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord. Rom.8.38-9)
God has said, “Never will I leave you *Insert Your Name*, never will I forsake you.” So you say with confidence, “The Lord is my helper; I will not be afraid. What can man do to me?” (Heb.13.5-6)
Surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age. (Matt.28.20)

And *Insert Your Name*, who with an unveiled face reflects the Lord’s glory, is being transformed into His likeness with ever-increasing glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit. (2.Cor.3.18)
*Insert Your Name*, you are already clean because of the word I have spoken to you. Remain in me, and I will remain in you… You did not choose me, but I choose you, and appointed you to go and bear fruit - fruit that will last. (John.15.3-4,16)
If by the Spirit you put to death the misdeeds of the body, you will live, because those who are led by the Spirit of God are sons of God. For you did not receive a spirit that makes you a slave again to fear, but you received a Spirit of sonship. And by Him you cry, “Abba, father.” The Spirit Himself testifies with your spirit that you are God’s child. Now if you are a child, then you are an heir - an heir of God and a co-heir with Christ, if indeed you share in His sufferings in order that you may also share in His glory. ( Rom.8.13-7)
This is the confidence *Insert Your Name* has in approaching God; that if you ask anything according to His will, He hears you. And if you know that He hears you - whatever you ask - you know that you have what you asked of Him. (1.John.5.14-5)
*Insert Your Name*, when you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and when you pass through the rivers, they will not sweep over you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned. (Isaiah.43.2)
Jesus declared, “I am the bread of life. He who comes to me will never go hungry, and she who believes in me will never be thirsty.” (John.6.35)
I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness but will have the light of life. (John.8.12)
You love because He first loved you. (1.John.4.19)
I no longer call you a servant… instead, I have called you a friend, for everything that I learned from my Father I have made known to you. (John.15.15)
The Lord your God is with you *Insert Your Name*, He is mighty to save. He will take great delight in you, He will quiet you with His love, He will rejoice over you with singing. (Zeph.3.16)
*Insert Your Name*, you are part of a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people belonging to God, that you may declare the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His wonderful light. (1.Pet.2.9)
The One who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world. (1.John.4.4)
The Spirit helps you in your weakness. You do not know what you ought to pray for, but the Spirit Himself intercedes for you with groans that words cannot express. And He who searches your heart knows the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for the saints in accordance with God’s will. And you know that in all things God works for the good of those who love Him, who have been called according to His purpose. (Rom.8.26-8)
God has blessed you in the heavenly realms with every spiritual blessing in Christ. For He chose *Insert Your Name* in Him from the beginning of the world to be holy and blameless in His sight. In love He predestined you to be adopted as His son though Jesus Christ, in accordance with His pleasure and will - to the praise of His glorious grace, which He has freely given you in the One He loves. In Him you have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of God’s grace that He lavished on you with all wisdom and understanding. (Eph.1.3-8)
In Jesus and through faith in Him *Insert Your Name* may approach God with freedom and confidence. (Eph.3.12)
I tell you the truth, if *Insert Your Name* believes in me, the works that I do she will do also. And even greater works than these, because I am going to the Father. (John.14.12)
*Insert Your Name* can do everything through Him who gives her strength. (Philippians.4.13)

Be who you are in Christ
Whatever happens, conduct yourself in a manner worthy of the gospel of Christ. (Philipians.1.27)
Your attitude should be the same as that of Christ Jesus. (Philipians.2.5)
Walk as Jesus did. (1.John.2.6)

Where you’re headed    
Be confident of this, that He who began a good work in *Insert Your Name* will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus. ( Phil.1.6)
The fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. (Gal.5.22-3)
[He] is able to keep *Insert Your Name* from falling and to present you before His glorious presence without fault and with great joy. ( Jude.24)
If *Insert Your Name* acknowledges me before men, I will also acknowledge her before my Father in heaven. (Matthew.10.32)
Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away… And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, “Now the dwelling of God is with men, and God Himself will be with them and be their God. He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.” (Rev.21.1,3-4)
*Insert Your Name*, now you are a child of God, and what you will be has not yet been made known. But you know that when He appears, you shall be like Him, for you shall see Him as He is. (1.John.3.2)           
Whoever serves me must follow me; and where I am, my servant also will be. My Father will honour the one who serves me. ( John.12.26)
Just as you have borne the likeness of the earthly man, so shall you bear the likeness of the man from heaven. (1.Cor.15.49)
Then the angels showed me the river of the water of life, as clear as crystal, flowing from the throne of God and of the Lamb down the middle of the great street of the city. On each side of the river stood the tree of life, bearing twelve crops of fruit, yielding its fruit every month. And the leaves of the tree are for the healing of the nations. No longer will there be any curse. The throne of God and of the Lamb will be in the city, and His servants will serve Him. They will see His face, and His name will be on their foreheads. There will be no more night. They will not need the light of a lamp or the light of the sun, for the Lord God will give them light. And they will reign for ever and ever. (Rev.22.1-5)


Love is very patient, very kind. Love knows no jealousy: love makes no parade, gives itself no airs, is never rude, never selfish, never irritated, never resentful; love is never glad when others go wrong, love is gladdened by goodness, always slow to expose, always eager to believe the best, always hopeful, always patient. Love never fails. (1 Corinthians 13)
